Reruns, reruns, reruns..I think I must know every line of every episode of the Simpsons since 1984. Like the states the commercial networks in Australia just love buying older seasons of hit shows and then putting them on in time slots when nothing else is worth watching.
Which brings me to the point of why isn't the Simpsons funny anymore? Originally it started out as witty social satire with heart, poking fun at Bill & his tool shed, gun laws and the nuclear family.
Am I behind the 8 ball or has our sense of humour been taken over by Cletus the slack jawed yokel?

Hello Lady, earlier simpsons were funnier, now there are some funny ones here and there. maybe, you should start watching family guy.
ZAK
I can't watch the Simpsons any more, except maybe their Halloween episode. And there's something about The Family Guy I can't stand. Maybe the Simpsons is just one of those shows that has run its course but refuses to die.
Hi Zak, I've become quite the family guy fan in the last couple years. I think the trick to it is to expect there to be some tongue in cheek humour that usually goes too far.
Oddly enough I think in the later seasons of the Simpsons they tried to emulate the random pop up sort of humour, but because it never linked to the main story or made sense it wasn't really successful (see tommacco episode.)
I tend to agree with Pengwenn that it's just one of those empires of TV that is flogging a dead horse.
One would think that as it has made so much money and will continue to do so for probably the next decade in reruns that it will wrap production.
